Paroled Sex Offenders In Antelope Valley To Be Monitored Via Gps
Paroled high-risk sex offenders in Antelope County will become the first in Los Angeles county to be tracked via GPS technology. “By the end of this month, more than 40 high-risk sex offenders in the Antelope Valley region will be issued the GPS electronic bracelets that will make it easier for law enforcement officers and parole agents to track their whereabouts and determine their location at the time of a crime,” says Jim Tilton, acting secretary of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. “We are proud that by means of this GPS program, our Adult Parole Division is in the forefront of public safety enhancement.” Statewide, over 400 paroled sex offenders and 17 gang members are or have been tracked with GPS. Of those, 45 sex offenders and nine gang members have been re-arrested due to violations of parole proven through GPS tracking.
