Residents of Hamilton County, Tenn., need to have their faith restored in the county’s 911 emergency system, county officials told the Chattanooga Times Free Press. Recently the newspaper reported that 34,077 emergency calls went unanswered in 2005 and a 911 board member was quoted as saying that a “plague hangs over 911.” A county official is proposing a $70,000 public awareness campaign to discourage people from making unnecessary calls to 911 that clog the system and contribute to failures in service. http://www.tfponline.com/QuickHeadlines.asp?sec=l&URL=http%3A%2F%2Fepaper%2Ewehco%2Ecom%2FWebChannel%2FShowStory%2Easp%3FPath%3DChatTFPress%2F2006%2F05%2F11%26ID%3DAr00105
