Attenuator rests on a trailer, ready to stop errant vehicles
SST Safe-Stop Truck Mounted Attenuator (TMA) attaches easily to a truck or other host vehicle, without requiring extensive modifications. Length from back of host vehicle is less than 20 ft. When impacted by errant vehicle, attenuators steel frame collapses, while onboard, aluminum cartridges crush to absorb energy of impact. Directs impacting vehicle to a safe, controlled stop, thereby protecting road crews, motorists, and passengers. Also features anti-rotational dampeners that lock TMA in place during an angled impact to stop impacting vehicles from veering into work zones or adjacent lanes. In addition, dampeners protect host trucks frame by cushioning force of impact. Trailer boasts tight turning radius for enhanced maneuverability to site. TMA parts are reusable after impact, plus interchange with parts used by companion tilting attenuator. Optional arrow board available.
