Oregon’s physician-assisted suicide law was upheld by the Supreme Court in a 6-3 vote today. According to the Associated Press, the justices ruled that a federal drug law does not override the 1997 state law, as former Attorney General John Ashcroft claimed. Oregon’s law only covers people with incurable diseases who, according to at least two doctors, have less than six months to live. http://www.cnn.com/2006/LAW/01/17/assisted.suicide.ap/index.html
