Following last year’s hurricanes, the Florida Department of Agriculture is evaluating a law that requires removing trees within 1,900 feet of one plagued by citrus canker. According to the Tallahassee Democrat, farmers complained that the requirement is too harsh, especially considering the number of trees lost during last year’s storms and the amount of canker that those storms spread.
