Last month, the Atlantic County, N.J., Utilities Authority unveiled a $3.25 million hybrid solar-wind power plant at its wastewater treatment facility in Atlantic City. The 8-megawatt plant, installed by Wayne, Pa.-based Community Energy and South Plainfield, N.J.-based Alternity Power, combines solar energy arrays with five windmills to power the wastewater treatment facility and more than 2,500 homes annually. Residential and commercial customers can purchase energy generated at the Jersey-Atlantic Wind Farm under the New Jersey CleanPower Choice Program sponsored by the state’s Board of Public Utilities, which helped fund the power plant.
