An Ingham County, Mich., circuit judge earlier this week listened to arguments from a lawyer representing gay public employees fighting to receive health-care benefits for their partners. According to the Detroit Free Press, benefits were cut off after voters approved an amendment in 2004 limiting government recognition of marriage or similar unions to relationships between a man and a woman.
