N.C.’s Duke Power to test nuclear fuel
North Carolina’s electric provider, Duke Power, has received nuclear fuel from France to be tested at its nuclear station in Catawba.
North Carolina’s electric provider, Duke Power, has received nuclear fuel from France to be tested at its nuclear station in Catawba. According to The Charlotte Observer, the fuel blends surpus weapons plutonium with conventional uranium fuel. Duke is the only utility in the United States to take part in the U.S. Russia agreement to turn surplus weapons plutonium into fuel for nuclear power plants. The Charlotte Observer
