In Montgomery County, Pa., officials want to stop the violence in Norristown after a 32-year-old man was gunned down on a street near his home. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Bruce Castor, Junior, the county’s district attorney, said that county detectives would be lent to the municipality’s overwhelmed police department more often to help. The recent killing happened a little more than two weeks after two other people were wounded in daytime gunfire in the area. Shootings like those have overloaded Norristown’s 67 police officers and account for an estimated 30 percent of the county detective bureau’s manpower and overtime costs. http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/news/local/9605749.htm
