A report prepared by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives analyzing the history of 4,852 firearms seized by Philadelphia police in 2003 shows that 175 guns were taken from youths under 18. Additionally, the gun of choice among city criminals remains the 9mm semiautomatic. Until last year when Congress banned the data’s release after lobbying by the National Rifle Association, the information in the report was routinely provided to the public. The summary says that 2,909 of the weapons were traced back to their place of purchase and that five gun dealers are responsible for the largest portion of gun sales. http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/news/local/9523556.htm
