Classification Salary Range: $58,452 – $93,449
The City of Goodyear Public Works Department is a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-oriented team of 69 dedicated employees, with an annual operating budget of $14 million and CIP of $30 million. We are currently seeking two strategic-thinkers to become members of the top management team. If selected, you will play a major role in assisting the Director of Public Works with key strategic issues and major policies, while leading your team in delivering excellent municipal services.
Superintendent of Streets, Fleet and Sanitation
Will manage and lead the three divisions responsible for: operating, maintaining and planning the City’s streets and traffic facilities; ensuring the City’s vehicles and equipment are safe and dependable; and the collection and disposal of residential refuse. Preference will be given to candidates with extensive experience in pavement management, street construction, and traffic operations.
Superintendent of Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Maintenance
Will manage and lead the divisions responsible for: operating, maintaining and planning the parks, roadway rights-of-way, and other landscaped areas of the City; coordinating and providing recreational activities to our citizens; and maintaining the quality and security of our City buildings. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong background in parks and recreation management.
Requirements:
Three years experience in managing or administrating Public Works operations, and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Public Administration, Transportation Management, Recreation Management, or a related field. Five years experience, a Master’s degree, and certification/registration as a Professional Engineer or Landscape Architect are desirable, but not required. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted. The ideal candidates will take initiative; be ethical, honest and fair; inspire teamwork through innovative and creative performance practices in the midst of a fast pace environment with constantly shifting priorities; be experienced in personnel matters; have excellent oral, written, and listening skills; be sensitive to people who have different values and who come from different cultures; be a strategic thinker who sees the “big picture;” and be politically astute and sensitive. Both positions close January 26, 2003.
Streets Supervisor
Classification Salary Range: $48,089 – $76,882
Looking for a superb team builder with excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong morals and ethics to plan, organize, and direct the activities of the Street Maintenance Division. This Division is responsible for the maintenance, cleaning, repair and minor construction of City streets. Position requires an associate’s degree and five years experience in streets maintenance or related fields. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. Position also requires a valid AZ CDL Driver’s License and 4 or more certifications in the following specialties: Flagging and Traffic Control, Roadway Lighting, Sign and Markings, Traffic Signal, Workzone Traffic Control, Street Maintenance, Traffic Operations, or Backhoe or other heavy equipment operation.
