The Central Ohio Transit Authority has contracted with New York-based Parsons Brinckerhoff to provide consulting services for the preliminary engineering and environmental studies of a proposed light-rail transit line in Columbus, Ohio.
Pittsfield, Mass., has contracted with North Springfield, Vt.-based Dufresne-Henry to design the rehabilitation of Benedict Road, which connects residential neighborhoods to one of the city’s main avenues.
The North County Transit District in Oceanside, Calif., has contracted with Greensboro, N.C.-based DaimlerChrysler Commercial Buses to provide 13 low-floor buses that are fueled by compressed natural gas.
New York City Transit has contracted with New York-based Vollmer Associates to design the rehabilitation of a subway station located at 50th Street and Eighth Avenue. Completion of the rehabilitation is slated for 2009.

Henry County (Ga.) Water & Sewerage Authority has contracted with McDonough, Ga.-based Lambert Sand & Gravel to preserve approximately 150 acres along Mackey Creek.
The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago has contracted with Overland Park, Kan.-based Black & Veatch and Chicago-based Greeley and Hansen to develop a master plan for capital improvements to the Stickney Water Reclamation Plant, a 1,200-mgd treatment facility.
Jacksonville, Fla., has contracted with Chesterfield, Mo.-based Insituform Technologies to rehabilitate 12.3 miles of main-line sewer and laterals.
The Washington (D.C.) Suburban Sanitary Commission has contracted with Millburn, N.J.-based Hatch Mott MacDonald, Infrastructure & Environment to provide engineering services for the construction of surge tanks at the Potomac Water Treatment Plant.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Sewer District has contracted with Wheaton, Ill.-based RJN Group to conduct inspections and recommend improvements to the district’s sanitary and combined sewer systems.
The Arapahoe County (Colo.) Water and Wastewater Authority has contracted with Denver-based Richard P. Arber Associates to design upgrades to the Lone Tree Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Kissimmee, Fla., has contracted with Pasadena, Calif.-based Jacobs Engineering and Lakeland, Fla.-based Chastain-Skillman to design an expansion of the city’s Sand Hill Road Wastewater Reclamation Facility. The project will expand the plant’s capacity from 4.8 mgd to 7.5 mgd.

Putnam County, W.Va., has contracted with Boulder, Colo.-based BI to provide technology to electronically monitor criminal offenders serving time in the county’s home detention program.
Montgomery County, Md., has contracted with Los Angeles-based DMJM Design to design the $15.5 million renovation of the county’s Detention Center.
The Indianapolis Police Department has contracted with San Diego-based ImageWare Systems to install a computer program to capture, store and retrieve photos of sex offenders and other related information.
Dauphin County, Pa., has contracted with Harrisburg, Pa.-based Skelly and Loy to assist the county’s Emergency Management Agency in completing a hazard vulnerability assessment and mitigation plan. Completion is slated for January 2004.
The Cobb County — Marietta (Ga.) Water Authority has contracted with London-based AMEC to assess the system’s vulnerability to terrorism.

West Palm Beach, Fla., has contracted with San Rafael, Calif.-based Autodesk to provide software that will improve the sharing of homeland security and emergency information among departments.
Sarasota County, Fla., has contracted with Dayton, Ohio-based Woolpert to provide topographic mapping and digital orthophotography services to aid in the county’s resource management decisions regarding several watersheds.
Glendale, Calif., has contracted with Denver-based Merrick to provide digital orthophotography and update planimetric features, such as building footprints, transportation features, parks, sidewalks and streams, for the city’s geographic information system.
Maryville, Tenn., has contracted with Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada-based Cayenta to provide software for utilities billing and customer service.
The Medina County (Texas) Appraisal District has contracted with Houston-based Stewart Geo Technologies to provide orthophotography and mapping services for both the appraisal district and the county’s 911 Emergency Communications District.
