The California Supreme Court ruled Monday that transit agencies can be held liable for having bus stops at hazardous locations. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the ruling upholds a $1.6 million verdict against the Central Contra Costa Transit Authority (CCCTA) for injuries suffered by a Martinez, Calif., woman who was hit by a car while crossing a street to reach a bus stop. The court said the agency knew about the dangerous location of the bus stop and could have taken measures to correct it.
