Locals create educational tool for fleet maintenance
The National Association of Fleet Administrators has created “Lifecycle Cost Analysis for Fleets,” an interactive educational CD-ROM that reinforces key concepts and techniques for effective vehicle financial modeling. The CD-ROM was developed by Christopher Amos, commissioner of equipment services for St. Louis, and Linda Carlton, transportation and distribution assistant manager for Tacoma (Wash.) Public Utilities.
The CD features current lifecycle cost analysis materials, focusing on all relevant costs incurred over a vehicle’s lifetime. It offers information on vehicle selection, vehicle replacement, purchase and lease options, alternative fuels and outsourcing.
The CD-ROM requires Microsoft Windows 98 or better and a CD drive. Microsoft Excel 97/2000 XP is required to modify sample spreadsheets. The CD-ROM is available from NAFA; telephone (732) 494-8100. Order forms are available at www.nafa.org/public/educationidx.html. Cost is $99, plus shipping and handling, for members; $125, plus shipping and handling, for non-members.
