Recycling grants available to Massachusetts locals
In Massachusetts, a community’s trash could become its economic treasure. The Chelsea Center for Recycling and Economic Development, part of the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, is offering grants up to $25,000 to Massachusetts cities, towns and non-profit organizations interested in developing recycling-based community economic development initiatives.
Proposed projects must involve recovery of non-hazardous materials and products from the local waste stream and reuse of those items as feedstock in local enterprises. They also must involve collaboration between local governments and local businesses, business groups, community-based organizations or community economic development programs.
