Working with the Federal Highway Administration, Washington, D.C.-based Public Technology Inc. (PTI) has published a guide to intergovernmental collaboration. “How Can We Work Together?” focuses on efforts by governments to coordinate public safety, transportation and communications efforts.

The publication includes a section on leadership tactics; a sample memorandum of understanding; and recommended practices for resource sharing, joint operations and integration. It also highlights case studies of cities and counties that have developed joint public safety operations centers, coordinated transportation and emergency management, implemented a regional intelligent transportation system and installed wireless computers for public safety applications.

The guide can be downloaded at no charge from the PTI Web site, www.pti.org.
