Economic development organizations combine
The Washington, D.C.-based Council for Urban Economic Development (CUED) and the Chicago-based American Economic Development Council (AEDC) have joined to form the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). The organization, which has combined membership of 4,000, will be based in Washington, D.C.
The IEDC’s purpose will be to assist members in developing projects and networks and to provide an international learning exchange. The organization will serve as an economic development guide in areas such as brownfield redevelopment, infrastructure finance, community development and industrial rehabilitation.
Jeffrey Finkle, former executive director of CUED, has been named CEO of the organization. Kurt Chilcott, president and CEO of San Diego-based CDC Small Business Finance, and Jim Griffin, president of the Hornell Area Chamber of Commerce in New York, have been named co-chairs.
