Every little bit helps. That’s the theory behind Roswell, Ga.’s, new initiative, under which the city offers its employees bicycles that they can check out to make short trips.
According to the Atlanta Constitution, the idea is the brainchild of Roswell’s traffic division manager Larry Crowe and Morgan Rogers, the assistant director of the Recreation and Parks Department. Under the program, called Pedal Power, city employees may check out one of eight donated bikes to make trips between offices, go to lunch or just to ride around.
The bicycles are all 18-speed models, which allows them to easily negotiate the suburban Atlanta town’s hills. Roswell officials are encouraging other metropolitan Atlanta communities to copy the program.
