The Kansas City, Kan., school district has received a $9.66 million grant to recruit teachers, reduce class sizes, train administrators and get parents more involved in schools. The grant, which will be spread over five years, comes from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, which has already invested $4.5 million in the school district’s reform effort since 1998. The foundation’s involvement in the school district is expected to help the community pass a $120 million bond issue for school renovation in April.
